The People Have Chosen Their Favorite Artist!

 

The 2015 Art in the Square People’s Choice Award goes to David Bjurstrom of Austin, TX. His winning piece is a graphite pencil drawing entitled “Windmill.” David with 8 other 2D featured artists showcased in the Southlake Town Hall rotunda gallery competed for the honor.

This is not the first time his work has been recognized as among the very best and most innovative of drawings in pencil. He has received Best of Show and First Place honors at numerous fine art festivals around the United States. To see his exceptional artwork( booth A 8) and the art of over 160 renown artists come to Art in the Square April 24-26 at Southlake Town Square.

Festival Hours: Friday April 24- 4:00 p.m-10:30p.m.

                            Saturday April 25 10:00a.m-10:30 p.m.

                            Sunday April 26 11:00a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Art in the Square needs your help!

The walls of the rotunda of the Southlake Town Hall become once again a fabulous gallery to display the artwork for the 9 featured artists of Art in the Square 2015 competing for the coveted honor of being named by the public as the 2015 People’s Choice Winner. Also featured is Martin Lambuth’s artwork, 2014 People Choice Winner and 2015 featured t-shirt artist.

The public may choose their favorite by casting a vote at Southlake Town Hall or voting online at .http://www.artinthesquare.com/poll/peoples-choice-2015/  The deadline for voting is April 10.

The 2015 featured artists competing for the coveted honor of the Second People’s Choice Award are:

Art in the Square, a fine arts festival held at Southlake Town Square April 24-26 showcases artwork of world-wide renowned artists, emerging artists and high school artists. One of goals of the event is to encourage young artists.

Youth Art offers high school students in Northeast Tarrant County the opportunity to enter their artwork in competition for the Lone Star Artist Award. The winner of the award will have their work on display in the rotunda of the Capitol of Texas. The winner and family will receive two nights of hotel accommodations in Austin courtesy of Kids Matter International and VIP Tour of the Capitol courtesy of State Representative Giovannni Capriglione.

Contest is open to any student of high school age in Northeast Tarrant County including private and home schooled. The jury committee will select 100 pieces of artwork to be showcased during the festival. In addition to the Lone Star Artist Award, the jury committee selects from the 100 selected pieces exceptional artwork of students awarding prizes to the winners.

The community is invited to the kick- off event filled with visual arts, music, food and wine. The event co-sponsored by the Southlake Arts Council, Apex Arts League and Art in the Square/Southlake Women’s Club, will take place from 5-6:30 Sunday Feb 22 in the foyer of Southlake Town Hall.

This fourth annual event will kick off the 16th Art in the Square. 2015 beneficiaries will be announced. Art displayed will be creations by the 2015 Art in the Square featured artists. The art will hang in Town Hall for 2 months giving the public the opportunity to cast their vote for The People’s Choice Winner. Ballot box will be in Town Hall or vote on line www.artinthesquare.com.

2015 event t-shirt will be available for purchase featuring the 2014 winner, Martin Lambuth. 

Music will be provided by Azura Winds. Tasty treats sponsored by Fidelity Investments, Southlake Investment Center  and wine by Constellation Brands will compliment the event.
