Metroport Rotarians are business professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders that want to contribute and serve. We promote ethics, leadership, inclusion and service. We hold a wine tasting fundraising event annually, Called WineDiscovery, where there are no administrative costs so 100% of sponsor funds and net proceeds are used for charitable purposes. From the inception WineDiscovery has been the major fund-raising activity of Metroport Rotary. The bulk of the proceeds will go toward educational scholarships for local seniors, over $206,000 have been awarded so far! Funds raised through WineDiscovery will also be used to fund Metroport's many charitable activities, including GRACE, Metroport Meals on Wheels, the Roanoke Food Pantry, and our international work in Nicargaua. Rotary is about leadership. Each year, we promote vocational events for young people. These include the Rotary Four Way Speech contest, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, scholarship awards and proudly sponsor an Interact club at Westlake Academy. As a chapter of an international organization, we are 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world.
