Jim Strawn
Jim Strawn brings extensive marketing experience, a track record of ranch sales success, and a broad knowledge of the land to the Ranch and Land Division at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. A “true Texan,” his veneration of Texas’ independent and individualistic spirit is what inspires him. He greatly enjoys working with a broad clientele, representing ranchers, business owners, and professionals who he says all uniquely exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit of Texas.
Strawn began his real estate career in 2001 after the sale of his 20-year-old marketing and distribution business. He became a Licensed Real Estate Broker in 2006, and his intense love of wide-open spaces led to a satisfying career representing both buyers and sellers in counties throughout North and West Texas. A native Texan with roots in the Dallas area, Jim graduated from the University of North Texas with a BBA in Marketing.
Throughout his childhood, Strawn admired the natural beauty and spirit of our state during his many visits to his grandparents’ property out in East Texas. This inspired his passion for helping people find the perfect ranch home so that they too could experience the wonders of ranch-style living. He has experienced great success with ranch properties all over DFW, including some of the largest legacy ranches in the area.
He and his wife Mary Jane have four grown children and are active members of Fellowship Bible Church of Dallas. Strawn’s love for the Dallas area shows in his strong ties to the community. He currently serves as Chairman the Board of Builders of Hope in West Dallas and also supports After Care Prison Ministry, bringing biblical inspiration and gospel music to correctional facilities across Texas. Jim has also served as an officer in the Lake Highlands Exchange Club, a Scout Master of Boy Scouts of America Troop 415, and as a Board Member of Contact Teleministries.
An avid outdoorsman, Strawn enjoys quail hunting, field trailing, camping, and fishing. While he still enjoys walking behind pointing dogs in pursuit of Bob White Quail, he is now focusing on his passion for Americana acoustic music. He performs as lead singer and guitarist in the local band Bluestem, which has regularly performed in regional venues including various prison ministries for the past three years.
Strawn finds great joy in being a part of the complex journey from introduction to closing on real estate, and his enjoyment fuels his continued success in the industry.
