Physicians of Executive Medicine of Texas Walter Gaman, MD, Elizabeth Cox, MD, Mark Anderson, MD

Executive Medicine of Texas is internationally recognized as a luxury medical practice. For long over a decade, they have added selective services which benefit patient well-being and add a level of convenience. Judy Gaman, Director of Business Development said, “We are very calculated in each decision we make. It has to be safe, effective, and there has to be an interest from our patient population. Once that is established we determine the best possible way to move forward.”

Executive Medicine moved into their new facility in 2017. Gaman continues, “We experienced exponential patient population growth since our inception in 2005. The new facility allows us not only to add staff and services, but to do so in a luxury, five-star atmosphere.” The new location is located at the corner of Highway 114 and Kimball Avenue in Southlake, Texas. Infusion therapy is one of the services Executive Medicine of Texas has now added at the new location.

Nuuvo Health is known for their personalized service and mobile abilities, so this was a natural fit for both Executive Medicine of Texas and Nuuvo Health. J. Mark Anderson, MD, founding partner at Executive Medicine said, “We weren’t looking to reinvent the wheel. We knew what we wanted, but only wanted to join forces with a company that would fit with our philosophies and commitment to service.”

The feelings from Nuuvo seemed to be much of the same, as John Ruffino, MD, founding partner at Nuuvo Health explained, "For over a year I have searched for the right medical practice to partner with, a practice ripe with compassion, competency and professionalism - I have finally found that and more in Executive Medicine."

Executive Medicine of Texas A global leader in preventive and proactive medicine

DNA testing is taking center stage in advanced health and wellness programs. It gives the patient more detailed information about their own health, creating a truly personalized approach for improvement.

Executive Medicine of Texas is a leader in preventative and proactive medicine, perhaps most known for their half-day executive physical examinations and concierge medicine programs. Their dedication to technology and science is what sets them apart from others in their field. For example, telomere testing was being offered to their patients long before most physicians had any idea that telomere length was associated with health and the aging process. “DNA testing was a natural progression for us,” states Judy Gaman, Director of Business Development. “People come for the luxury service we offer, but they return and refer others because of the information we are able to provide to them. Information that will change, or in some cases, save their life.”

Genetic Direction, the lab being used for the DNA testing, has earned the respect of many physicians across the country. They offer several options for DNA testing, with GxSlim and GxRenew currently being offered at Executive Medicine of Texas and GxPerform forthcoming. GxSlim offers scientifically-based weight management recommendations that are specific to a person’s DNA. It includes which foods are best to eat and to avoid, as well as which exercises will be most effective. It answers the age-old question of why some people do better with diet, some with exercise, while others have to have to pay significant attention to both.

GXRenew examines 29 different traits to look at how a person’s genes may be dictating their aging process. This allows for targeted age management, rather than trial and error. “It’s a great tool for anyone concerned about maintaining or improving their youthful appearance and stamina,” says Judy Gaman.

GxPerform, which is directed at athletes to help them reach optimal levels of performance, will be available in late Spring 2018.

“Nothing is more personal than your own DNA. It holds the code to your health risks as well as the steps necessary to improve and increase chances for longevity,” says Walter Gaman, MD. “We know one size doesn’t fit all, and DNA testing takes personalized medicine to a whole new level.” While DNA testing can be ordered al la cart, it’s also incorporated into their Renewal Concierge Program, a program dedicated to a scientific approach to looking and feeling younger.

DNA testing is performed using a cheek swab and is quick and painless. The results are provided with several pages that explain the different genetic variations. These are reviewed during a follow up visit with the healthcare provider. Result time averages 2-3 weeks from time of collection. J. Mark Anderson, MD explains, “You can spend months, even years trying to figure out what works for you, or you can give us a few weeks and provide you with solutions that are based on fact and science.”

In 2005, partner physicians Walter Gaman, MD and Mark Anderson, MD set out to change the doctor/patient relationship. That vision quickly became a reality as Executive Medicine of Texas flourished. Patients all around Texas quickly grasped the concept of executive physicalsconcierge medicine, and a more comprehensive approach to their health. Soon, patients from around the globe were flying in to seek the doctors expertise on living longer and healthier lives. Now in 2017, the physicians have taken their practice to an even higher level.

Their new location at 2106 East State Hwy 114, Southlake, Texas is more along the line of a private club than a doctor's office. Complete with showers and an Executive lounge that overlooks the city, patients can enjoy their half-day visit in comfort. "The office is a reflection of our patients' wish list. We actually polled them over a year ago and then designed the office around their responses," explains Judy Gaman, Director of Business Development for the practice. "Everything we do is for their comfort and better health, so their opinion matters to us."

In addition to the partner physicians, they added a female physician to the staff in 2016. "We spent an entire year searching the country for just the right addition to the practice. Dr. Elizabeth Cox has been a terrific addition and we're glad to have her," said Dr. Anderson. The practice also has two female extenders, Randi True, PA-C and Tabitha Wade, MSN, APRN, FNP-C. With the addition of healthcare providers, the move to a larger and more advanced office was not just a luxury, but a necessity.

The new location in Southlake is less than ten minutes from DFW Airport and right next to a new Cambria Hotel which makes overnight visits for out-of-town patients convenient and easy to accommodate. Executive Medicine of Texas also has a history of providing ground transportation and security detail for high profile clients arriving at local private airports.

Other services offered at Executive Medicine of Texas include: bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, age management, DNA testing for aging and weight management, micronutrient testing, and the ALCAT food sensitivity panels.

It's time for your one hour of medical school! Listen in as Southlake physicians at Executive Medicine of Texas tackle the topic of all things thyroid related, from facts to treating related diseases.

The thyroid, which is an endocrine gland in the neck. It is found at the front of the neck, below the Adam's apple. The thyroid gland secretes thyroid hormones, which primarily influence the metabolic rate and protein synthesis. The hormones also have many other effects including those on development.

The doctors take a peek into the facts about the thyroid--mainly that the Hormonal output from the thyroid is regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) secreted from the anterior pituitary gland, which itself is regulated by thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) produced by the hypothalamus.

As wellness is our main goal, the men tackle the complex issues that could be arise when our thyroid is out of whack. We learn that Hyperthyroidism occurs when the gland produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormones, the most common cause being Graves' disease — an autoimmune disorder. In contrast, hypothyroidism is a state of insufficient thyroid hormone production. Worldwide, the most common cause is iodine deficiency. Thyroid hormones are important for development, and hypothyroidism secondary to iodine deficiency remains the leading cause of preventable intellectual disability. In iodine-sufficient regions, the most common cause of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto's thyroiditis—also an autoimmune disease. In addition, the thyroid gland may also develop several types of nodules and cancer.
