Holidays are a special time of the year, and this Christmas, Sundance Square will make it even more memorable. The holiday season will kick off with the arrival of the Sundance Square Christmas Tree at 9:00 a.m. Monday, November 18th.
Sundance Square President and CEO Johnny Campbell will continue the annual tradition of hoisting the giant 50-foot concolor fir from Hart, Michigan, in the center of Sundance Square Plaza.
“Christmas is a magical time, but it is extra special in Sundance Square,” said Campbell. “The lights glisten a little brighter, the music is sweeter and the experience incomparable. It may be September, but we have been planning for the holidays since early spring and as we get closer, we get a little more excited each day.”
The official tree lighting ceremony, undeniably one of the best in Texas, will take place on Saturday, November 23, with festivities beginning at 6:00 pm. Kids Who Care, a non-profit international theatre company, will be performing at this year’s tree lighting.
Santa Claus will be prominently featured on the Plaza Stage, which will be transformed into a winter wonderland with a dramatic silver fabric backdrop and a sleigh backed by beautiful trees. The entire plaza will feature large, brilliantly lit sculptures as backdrops for photos with family and friends.
The 2019 GM Financial Parade of Lights will be Sunday, November 24, starting at 6 pm. Reserve seats are on sale now. The parade route, as well as the schedule of activities, can be found at fortworthparadeoflights.org. This is the 37th year of the parade which boasts the theme, “The Sounds of the Season.”
Bass Performance Hall will host a number of holiday events including performances of DRUMLine Live Holiday Spectacular throughout the month of November; and Miss Saigon and The Nutcracker throughout the month of December.
Jubilee Theatre presents If Scrooge Was A Brother. “Eb Scroo” is seeking to snuff out the season’s cheer by demanding all debts owed him be satisfied before nightfall on Christmas Eve. Facing imprisonment and a Christmas without presents, the residents are desperate. In this urban spin of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the ghosts and characters are icons of Black culture, performing gospel, R&B, and even reggae songs. Circle Theatre will present a holiday celebration with a twist entitled, “Holiday Punch” on December 7 at 7:30 p.m. The show is inspired by the audience when a playwright interprets their personal stories, ideas or wishes. Parking is always free in Sundance Square after 5 pm on weekdays. Before 5 pm, parking is free with validation from a Sundance Square restaurant or retailer. Validation is good for 2.5 hours of dining or shopping, or four hours for weekday movies. Weekends are free throughout the day and evening.
Guests also have the option to valet park for free throughout Sundance Square with purchase from a Sundance Square merchant. Just look for the red umbrellas at 9 locations throughout Sundance Square.
