Carroll ISD campuses are experiencing a soft lockdown as a result of a prisoner escape in Grapevine. Here is the message from Carroll ISD:

Dragon Staff & Parents,

You may have heard on the local news that Grapevine Police are searching for an armed fugitive in the area. The prisoner was being transported from Florida to Nevada and escaped Monday evening around 10 p.m. from a vehicle parked at the Wal-Mart near Highway 114 in Grapevine. He is considered dangerous. Police are unsure if the fugitive is still local, but we are taking necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our students, staff and schools as we begin the school day.

We have been in contact with Southlake DPS and with Grapevine-Colleyville ISD officials, as well. As a precaution, police have increased patrols around our schools and our principals and staff will have an increased presence during student drop-off times. Our custodial staff has been made aware of the situation, too. Police will increase local patrols near our campuses throughout the day.

We will begin school on a soft lockdown which means campuses proceed with classes as usual but all exits/entrances will be locked throughout the day until the soft lockdown is lifted. Shuttles will run between campuses and high school students will change classes as usual, but with additional adult staff present and observant at all times. The soft lockdown will be lifted once local law enforcement and school officials feel it is safe to do so.

This alert is being sent as a Connect-ED email message to all CISD staff and parents to notify our Dragon families that we are aware and monitoring the situation. We take the safety of our students and staff as a top priority. Be observant and report any safety concerns to your local police department and/or school campus.
