Dragons Run at Garmin MileSplit Invitational

 

Denton, TX – With the top Southlake Carroll boys and girls cross country runners taking the weekend off from competition to prepare for next week’s Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas, the Dragons sent their JV teams to Denton for the Garmin MileSplit Invitational. The boys finished third in the Varsity Open race, and the girls finished fourth.

“We had a lot of young men and women running in their first varsity races today, and I’m proud of how well they competed,” Dragons Head Coach Justin Leonard said. “It was a great opportunity for them to take the next step in their development.”

Sophomore Ryan Krasinski paced the Dragons in the boys’ race, finishing 14th overall with a time of 17:27. Senior Jeremy Kogan and sophomore Caleb Lo tied for 20th with identical times of 17:37.2, followed by junior Tino Ross (41st, 18:04) and senior Ethan Thomas (44th, 18:08).

On the girls’ side, junior Kylee Cusick led the way for Carroll, finishing 17th overall with a time of 20:58. Senior Mia Tesoriero came in 27th (21:13), followed by sophomores Katie Hurrell (44th, 21:41), Riley Higginbotham (46th, 21:47) and Mia Dunagan (21:56).

In the elite JV races, senior Raahem Siddiqui paced the Dragons in the boys’ competition, finishing 36th overall with a time of 19:14. He was followed by sophomores Quentin Gordon (57th, 19:54) and Chase Mader (61st, 20:03). Freshman Haley Badgett finished 43rd on the girls’ side (24:14), followed by sophomore Audrey Hendrickson (45th, 24:18) and freshman Reese Beall (51st, 24:52).

In the open JV competition, sophomore Addison Adamian led the girls with an 11th-place finish (25:46). Freshmen Nycole Ruiz (19th, 26:53) and Reese Lackey (36th, 28:12) rounded out the top three for the Dragons. In the boys’ race, senior Anthony Thomas paced Carroll with a 30th-place finish (21:11), followed by freshman Madhavan Bosemani (33rd, 21:25) and freshman Gavin Folkerts (42nd, 21:45).

While the Dragons varsity runners will return to action next Saturday in Arkansas, the JV teams will compete in the Reunion Run in Decatur, Texas.
