SAMUEL WATSON WINS SILVER MEDAL AT YOUTH WORLD CLIMBING CHAMPIONSHIP 

August 30, 2021: [Voronezh, Russia] — This past Monday, Fifteen- year-old Samuel Watson, of Southlake Texas, competed in the IFSC Youth World Climbing Competition. The top youth athletes from 37 countries gathered in Voronezh, Russia to race up a 15 meter wall for the speed climbing competition. Samuel achieved the best time of the Youth B competition of 6.18 seconds and claimed the silver medal in the final knock-out race of the event. 

Samuel is a sophomore at Carroll High School and trains with the elite rock climbing team, Team Texas in Plano, TX. He is the Youth B US National Speed Climbing Record holder and a member of Team USA for USA Climbing. Sport climbing made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Speed Climbing will be featured in its own medal event in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
