Ready to score on fun this fall season? Continuing its year-round offerings of programs, Southlake Tennis Center (STC) is serving up fall opportunities for juniors and adults beginning August 15. From classes for beginning junior players to competitive leagues for seasoned adults, grab your racquet and get in the game this fall!
For ages 5-16, the fall program for juniors consists of two class sessions: August 15 through October 9 and October 10 through December 11. Different levels of classes are held after school and on Saturdays. Junior players receive individualized attention in small groups and have the ability to move up based on skill ability checklists. Level One is for players who have not taken tennis lessons before or for beginners who need additional instruction during classes. Levels Two and Three are for advanced beginner/intermediate players who are starting match play. Levels Four and Five are for advanced players and require instructor permission to join.
The junior program uses the principles from Evolve9, a leading junior program used at John McEnroe’s Academy and other leading programs throughout the world. The focus is on getting kids to play right from the beginning. Players are taught how to play points and games. Skills focus on controlling and directing the ball to help win points. Coaches work on developing the athletic skills, court movement, and basic tennis technique to help in match play at each level.
STC offers a wide variety of activities for adults, including adult beginner/advanced beginner classes, weekly open drills for all levels, intramural league play, tournaments/social events and team leagues that compete against other local facilities. Players looking to improve their game can book a private lesson with one of our certified teaching professionals.
In-house fall leagues and drills for men and women start the week of August 29 and continue for eight weeks. There are different formats, from progressive leagues to set partner, divided into levels for competitive match play. All leagues include court fees and balls. Players are required to have the minimum drill rating to participate. STC is also a host site for teams who play in local leagues including Northeast Tarrant Tennis, Tennis Competitors of Dallas, and USTA Leagues run by the Greater Fort Worth Tennis Coalition.
