NCL Southlake Seniors shop at Walmart for needy families and receive a $3,000.00 donation from mystery man

Every December, the girls of the Southlake Chapter of National Charity League (NCL) shop for a family in need through Christmas Providers - an organization that assists less-fortunate families with children in the HEB and Birdville School Districts by providing “Christmas” for them using an “adopt-a-family" approach.

This year was no different...except it was. While shopping for their family, the high school senior girls were approached by a mystery man. Dressed in paint-stained clothes, the man asked if they were shopping for a family. The girls told him about Christmas Providers and how they were shopping for a family of six. He asked if he could make a donation, and surprised by his thoughtfulness, the girls gladly accepted his offer. Amazed at any donation and expecting $50 or so, the girls were stunned to silence when they were handed three $1,000 Wal-Mart gift cards.

Following this generous donation, the mystery man disappeared. This group of girls has been shopping together for Christmas Provider families every December since 7th grade and through their volunteer efforts do amazing things. What this mystery man did for these adopted families in need is incredible, and what he did for these NCL girls is life changing. To see first hand this kind of generosity - that does not ask for thanks or recognition, that says “I trust you to place this gift in the hands of the needy,” and is an example that mankind is overwhelmingly good.

These senior girls from the Southlake Chapter of NCL will take this lesson forward with one last effort to raise as much money as they can before they say goodbye to their six year journey through National Charity League. They would like your help to raise a record amount of dollars to be placed in hands of The Battered Foundation, Christmas is for Children, GRACE’s Feed Our Kids, Metroport Meals on Wheels, Summer Santa, Special Olympics and the Stepping Stones Foundation.

It is as easy as contacting nclsouthlake.org or Vanessa Hornyak at 214-498-5900. 100% of all donations will go directly to these very deserving charities. On March 1, 2015 the National Charity League Southlake Chapter will host its 18th Annual Fashion Show and Benefit, Helping Dreams Set Sail, at the Hurst Conference Center. Contact NCLSouthlake.org to purchase tickets to the show or make a donation.
