Lacrosse is the fastest-growing sport in North Texas and the Southlake Carroll Lacrosse Association (SCLA) is excited for our upcoming year! The game has grown nationally as the fast-paced games are entertaining leading to more televised events on ESPN. Locally, a Top-8 finish by the High School boys in last year's State Championships and hosting both the High School Boys and Girls Playoffs helped build interest. Come see what all the excitement is about as SCLA is looking to expand and expose lacrosse to more kids (and parents.)
Lacrosse is a great complimentary team sport - it offers the creativity and conditioning of soccer and basketball, the hand-eye coordination of baseball and softball, and timed games that provide an easier event to work into the family calendar.
Registration is NOW OPEN for BOYS (grades 1 to 12) and GIRLS (grades 3 to 12.) Instructions are available via their website at www.southlakelacrosse.org.
New for Youth Boys this fall will be an Southlake-inclusive league with all practices and games in town. This allows SCLA to offer an expanded season which allows us to play Box lacrosse into December. By eliminating travel time to away games, keeping practices local, and having more games both players and families benefit.
The Girl's program will benefit from a new High School Head Coach in Faith Richards. Richards played Division 1 Lacrosse at Rutgers University were she was a two-time Captain. She was recognized as Rutgers Defensive Player of the Year (2010) and Big East Academic All-America Teams (2007-2010.)
No experience is needed as coaches are well-versed in guiding and helping new players build the skills and knowledge to enjoy our sport! SCLA will offer introductory clinics and is planning to have loaner equipment if a girl or boy wants to "try it out."
