Lady Dragon Lacrosse Varsity and JV Squads enter playoffs

The Lady Dragons lacrosse teams will work to extend their seasons as they enter the playoffs this week. The Lady Dragons Varsity squad will take their 7-4 (4-4 District) regular season record on the road to battle the Highland Park Scots.  They will play at 7:30 at Highlander Stadium.

Returning head coach Faith Renner entered the season facing the loss of a large graduating class in 2016. Her Lady Dragons responded this year with maturity, a strong freshman class, and a "don't quit" attitude.  The team has pulled off notable one-goal wins at home against McKinney and Keller.

With 13 returners and 8 newcomers, the Lady Dragons are a diverse group. Senior Emerson Bradlee leads the defense along with juniors Sydney Lothes and Audrey Beam, and sophomore Jordyn Harryman.

They play in front of Goalies Caitlin Jones and Chloe Monroe who split time in the cage, each keeping the ball out of the net consistently. Junior Ashton Daly has also contributed after coming up from JV last year.

The midfield unit is young, fast and talented. Led by senior Cara Leahy and junior Emily Courson, the remaining mids are underclassmen, including freshman Madelyn Murphy and newcomer sophomore Anna Martinko. Sophomores Caroline Pierret and Taylor Walton also returned ready to make an impact this year. The offensive core has talent from all graduating classes, including senior Audrey Saxton, sophomore Mimi Wassef, and freshman Avery Newell.

JV head into playoffs as undefeated #1 Seed

With eight seniors, Coach Renner will look to the current JV roster for depth in 2018. The future looks bright as the JV Lady Dragons are undefeated on the season. They have multiple 10+ goal wins and shut outs this year.

They currently hold the #1 seed for district playoffs. They will play Bridge Lacrosse Academny at 6pm at Lowery Field in Allen.
