With record high temperatures expected today, Southlake Department of Public Safety officials are reminding residents to take precautions in the heat.

A heat advisory is currently in effect and temperatures are expected to hit 110 degrees on Thursday, according to Southlake DPS. Blistering conditions can increase the chances of heat-related illnesses and fatalities, so individuals should remember to check in on the elderly and those with health problems. Officials are also reminding the public not to leave children and pets locked in cars, even for a short amount of time.

If you must stay outside, remember to stay hydrated with water and watch for signs of heat-related illness.
