Work With Theatre Industry Pros: Carroll Presents Dance & Theatre Tech Clinics

This summer Carroll Theatre presents three incredible opportunities to work with industry dance and technical theatre professionals.  The clinics open to all Carroll students 9th – 12th grade will be held in late July and August at Carroll Senior High School. The clinic not only delivers the ultimate in professional instruction, but provides students with the opportunity to prepare themselves for the upcoming theatre season!

All participants must be registered online by this date. Unfortunately, there is no registration at the door.

DANCE CLINICS

Carroll Theatre is excited to welcome back renowned director & choreographer Jeremy Dumont for another exciting series of summer dance camps!

These camps are open to all theatre students, from incoming 9th graders to Class of 2017 graduates! Students may opt to attend one or both camps and should plan to attend every day of the clinic week.

Closer to the camp date, you'll be sent more information on what to bring or how to prepare. Please note there are a minimum number of students required in order to hold each class. If you sign up for a class, you'll be notified by July 15 if that minimum is not met.

Dance Camp 1: Beginning & Brush-Up Techniques

When: July 31-August 4, 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Where: CSHS Auditorium
Cost: $175
(A minimum of 8 students required to hold class)

Dance Camp 2: The Art of the Dance

When: August 7-11, 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Where: CSHS Auditorium
Cost: $175
(A minimum of 12 students is required to hold class)

Students who register for both clinics, the cost will be $300.

TECH & DESIGN CLINIC

Carroll Theatre is excited to provide an opportunity for our technical theatre students to work side-by-side with scenic designer & design mentor Rodney Dobbs as we create plans for the set of our fall musical, Gypsy! Learn to collaborate with a production team as we design the birdseye view of our musical set, plus sketches, cut lists, ground & building plans, & more.

All levels of set designers are welcome, from incoming 9th graders to incoming 12th graders. Students should plan to attend every day of the camp week. (No partial weeks allowed!) Closer to the camp date, you'll be sent more information on what to bring or how to prepare. Please note there is a minimum of 5 students required in order to hold the camp. If you sign up, you'll be notified by July 15 if that minimum is not met.

Rodney Dobbs

Rodney Dobbs, the co-founder of Pocket Sandwich Theatre, is one of the industry’s most respected and talented technicians. He’s been sketching, building, painting, and decorating sets for more than 250 plays and musicals in the DFW Metroplex for almost 40 year. Read more about Rodney Dobbs

Jeremy Dumont
Jeremy Dumont is an accomplished performer, Director/Choreographer, sought after instructor and CSHS alum. Jeremy served as Director of Education for Casa Manana in Ft. Worth, TX and has remained their resident choreographer for their children's series since 2011. Jeremy's choreography has been seen all over Dallas and Fort Worth as well as in Florida at the historic Alhambra Dinner Theater and at CityRep in Oklahoma City. Read more about Jeremy Dumont
