The Lady Dragon lacrosse teams experienced their best season results ever under Coach Faith Renner. The Varsity squad advanced in the playoffs after a stirring on-the-road victory against Highland Park. This put them into a tough match against ESD with the Lady Dragons dropping in this semi-final 14-2.
They Lady Dragons still had a state tournament slot up for battle. The Lady Dragons were up against McKinney to be chosen as a wild-card entry to get into the State Championship tournament. Despite the Lady Dragons defeating them in their head-to-head match up in the regular season, Mc Kinney was selected to advance as the wild-card team.
JV LADY DRAGONS PLAY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP
The JV Lady Dragons went into the playoffs with an undefeated regular season. A win in their first playoff games against Bridge Lacrosse put them into the championship.
Playing with a confidence gained from their regular season victory, the Lady Dragons held an 6-3 advantage with just 8 minutes left in the game. Hockaday then showed their defensive meddle. They slowly and steadily chipped away and overtook the Dragon lead before winning in a final 7-6 score. The experience the Lady Dragons gained playing for the championship should help them replace the graduating seniors next season.
