Carroll Girls Win Chile Pepper XC Festival

Boys Finish Third; JV teams compete at The Reunion Run

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas, and DECATUR, Texas – The Southlake Carroll girls cross country team won the Chile Pepper XC Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Saturday morning. Senior Kaylie Cox led the way once again, finishing 17th overall with a time of 18:46. The boys, led by junior David Fisher (20th, 15:42), finished third.

“This was a great win for our young ladies today,” Southlake Carroll Head Coach Justin Leonard said. “This event always attracts some of the best high school teams in the region, and coming out on top is a great way to finish our regular season. The boys battled hard too, and I feel good about our teams heading into the District meet, which is on our home course. We’ll be ready to go.”

Sophomore Sylvia Schwedler was the Dragons’ second runner in the girls’ race, finishing in 18:58, good for 23rdplace. Fellow sophomore Alexandra Walsh (35th, 19:11) was next, followed by freshman Elizabeth Smits (40th, 19:17) and junior Ava Bushaw (45th, 19:21).

On the boys’ side, sophomore Jude Alvarez finished 30th overall with a time of 15:52, followed by juniors Hunter Hill (32nd, 15:54), Robert Freeman (38th, 15:57) and Logan Cantu (46th, 16:03).
