Boys and Girls Varsity Region 1 Champions

Boys and Girls Squads Sweep Regionals

Lubbock, TX (October 28, 2019) – Facing stiff competition from multiple teams with state title aspirations, the Carroll XC boys and girls teams demonstrated once again that they too will be a force with which to be reckoned at the state championship meet to be held on November 9th, as both the Boys and Girls teams won the Region 1-6A cross country meet .  For the 10th consecutive year, the Boys team earned a state meet bid and for the 23rd consecutive year, the Lady Dragons earned a spot in the championship state race. Despite the tough 3-mile course at Mac Simmons Park, known for being a challenging course with steep hills and tight turns, the Dragon runners came out strong and persevered.

Head Coach Justin Leonard said,“We are proud of the way our kids stepped up and competed at the Regional meet in Lubbock.  It was our final dress rehearsal before the big dance and hopefully we will carry the momentum into the state meet.  Also, having four individuals in the top 10 was big for our team. No we just need to refocus and finish the goal.”
