Twelve Varsity Runners Qualify for the National Silver Team

JV Girls Place 1st  & JV Boys Place 2rd

Grapevine, TX (September 7, 2013) – The Tenth Annual Southlake Invitational took place Saturday at Meadowmere Park in Grapevine, Texas. The meet kicked off just as the sun was rising on this spectator-friendly course. Varsity and JV Dragon girls took 1st place spots and the Varsity and JV Dragon boys both took 2nd place.

Seven Dragon varsity boys and five Dragon varsity girls finished with qualifying times for the National Silver Team. Times for boys must be sub-16:30 and girls must be sub-19:45 to qualify for this prestigious team.

Carroll Cross Country Head Coach Justin Leonard said, “First we would like to thank everyone that helped with the Southlake Invitational this year.  The meet had over 2600 runners and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of our volunteers.”

He added, “We were very pleased with the way our boys and girls performed and progressed this week in racing.  We had a lot of PR’s (personal records), which is what we can control.  It’s a long season and we know that we have to stay grounded and consistent with our training in order to reach our full potential. We are looking forward to a good training week and we’ll get back to racing action on September 20th.”
