Boys win their 4^th Consecutive State Championship

Girls Take 4^th Place

Round Rock, TX (November 8, 2014) – The Southlake Carroll Boys Cross Country team won the Class 6A State Championship at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock, TX, becoming only the fifth program in UIL history to win four consecutive state titles.  The Lady Dragons finished in 4^th place.

Head Cross Country Coach Justin Leonard said, “Our boys and girls teams ran a gutsy race today at the state meet.  The most impressive and gratifying thing to watch is how our kids #1-7 leave everything they have on the course.”  He adds, “I just want to thank everyone that is involved with our program. I am honored to be a part of it.”

The boy’s team showed their depth and perseverance on the very tough state course, with a score of 94 and beating The Woodlands by just 11 points.  Sophomore Reed Brown came in 7^th overall and senior Eli Canal followed in 20^th place to secure the win for the Dragons.  Ansel Richards was the next scoring Dragon, coming in 34^th place followed by Timou Toure grabbing 37^th and Michael Waugh taking 43^rd to finish out the scoring positions.  Eric Karl came in 46^th place and Luke Lanham took 92^nd, completing the varsity team.

The Lady Dragons had previously won the last 3 state championships but took 4^th this year. Their team was led by senior Rianna Randolph who took 31^st place, followed by  Kayli Jones grabbing 45^th, Gillian Mortimer came in 54^th, Sarah Odneal was 55^th and Catherine Tracht finished out the scoring positions coming in 58^th.  Completing the varsity runners, Sarah McCabe took 77^th and Ari Lopez came in 97^th.
