" Crepe" By Itze Cuevas

Itze Cuevas of Keller, senior at Westlake Academy wins the Lone Star Award for the 2016 Art in the Square Youth Art Competition.

 

The winning art is an oil painting entitled “Crepe”

 

She and family will receive 2 night accommodations in Austin (courtesy of Kids Matter.) The artwork will hang in the rotunda of the Texas Capitol this summer. They will also receive a VIP tour of the Capitol courtesy of State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione.

 

3 other students were selected for exceptional artwork.

  • 1st Place-Katerina Orgunov, Junior at Timber Creek High School
  • 2nd Place-Noah Andrews, Junior Grapevine at Faith Christian
  • 3rd Place-Addison Adkins, Senior at Westlake Academy

Each was given a gift certificate provided by Roxann Taylor/Engel&Volkers.

The 17th Art in the Square presented by Southlake Women’s Club .showcases over 160 nationally, local and high school artists and entertainment on two stages.

Dallas Smith, winner of Canadian Country Music Awards 2015 Album of the Year is Saturday night headliner on the Sabre Stage at 8:30 pm.

Visitors are tempted in the popular Le Bistro and Route 66…food and beverage areas to sample all the festival and international choices. Children of all ages must visit Kids Korner and The Zone for the fun filled activities.

Thirty NETC charities will benefit from the 2016 Art in the Square. Since 2000 Art in the Square has raised over $2,300,000 for charities that help women, children and families.

Art in the Square at Southlake Town Square is the place to be!

Gregory Strachov of Floral City, Florida  voted the coveted honor of being 2016 Art in the Square People’s Choice Winner.  He has been an artist for thirty years receiving his first watercolor paints and brushes at age 8. As an adult he has pursued a career as an organic chemistry and biology teacher while staying true to his love for creating artwork with watercolors.

At age 15 he was given an award for his painting entitled “ Life”. Since then he has continued to be recognized receiving 63 prestigious awards for his artwork. Strachov’s  paintings are hanging in private collections all over the world. His work has been honored with shows in prominent museums in the US  as well as abroad.

Look for Gregory’s tent  with a People’s Choice banner at Art in the Square.. April 22-24… at Southlake Town Square. You will not be disappointed by his outstanding watercolor artwork.

The success story for Art in the Square is quite amazing! The first event had 7 beneficiaries.  This year’s fine arts festival will be helping 30 charities in Northeast Tarrant County. This is a record number for Art in the Square.

The Southlake Women’s Club is honored to help the causes of these incredible charities that help women, families and children overcome challenges in their daily lives. The programs receiving grants will fund summer camps, therapy. meals, emergency assistance for families, abuse programs for women and children, transportation assistance, medical special needs and outreach programs.

Art in the Square, a fine arts festival held at Southlake Town Square April 22-24, 2016 showcases artwork of world-wide renowned artists, emerging artists and high school artists. One of the goals of the event is to encourage young artists.

Youth Art offers high school students in Northeast Tarrant County the opportunity to enter their artwork in competition for the Lone Star Artist Award. The winner of the award will have their work on display in the rotunda of the Capitol of Texas. The winner and family will receive two nights of hotel accommodations in Austin courtesy of Kids Matter International and a VIP Tour of the Capitol courtesy of State Representative Giovannni Capriglione.

The Contest is open to any student of high school age in Northeast Tarrant County including those in private schools and those who are home schooled. The jury committee will select 100 pieces of artwork to be showcased during the festival. In addition to the Lone Star Artist Award, the jury committee selects from these 100 exceptional pieces of artwork and awards prizes to the winners in various categories. Awards are provided by Roxann Taylor with Engel & Volkers Real Estate.
