Art in the Square (AITS) Southlake has been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new dates are September 24-26, 2021.

The 2021 AITS Committee has held multiple meetings and has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic relative to large gatherings. They have determined that postponement can only assist in the advancement of the health of our community and of those who attend from near and far.

“It is highly important for us to continue to place the safety and well-being of our artists, patrons, volunteers, vendors, partners, and community as our top priority,” said AITS Chairwoman, Kathy Talley. "While we were so proud to announce our #1 ranking in 2020, we will be even prouder to carry that ranking forward and conduct a safer festival in the fall of 2021."

Art in the Square is a family-friendly, juried art festival, which is also a fundraiser that benefits several charitable organizations across Northeast Tarrant County. The Southlake Women's Club and its SWC Foundation have been honored to give over 3 million dollars in its 20+ year history. The art festival includes food, music, and other features that create a wonderful weekend event for attendees. Mark your calendars for September 24-26, 2021!

Summer Santa Provides Shopping Experience!

Record number of children will be wearing new clothes when they walk through the school’s doors for 2020-21 school year! Summer Santa funded 300 gift cards and 300 backpacks through its Back to School Shopping Program.

11 Charities directors and counselors from 5 school districts were given “Safe Shopping Kits” for Back to School Shopping for their clients and students. A total of 300 children are recipients of the Back to School Shopping Program.

Each shopping kit contained a $100 Kohl’s gift card, a Kohl’s Friends+Family coupon, a face mask and a wristband reminding the children that we are Better Together #SummersantaStrong. Parents will have the option of a physical or virtual online shopping experience. Backpacks are filled with school supplies for either at school or at home learning.

For 22 years Summer Santa has shopped with over 2000 children for back to school clothes. The Summer Santa board and volunteers will definitely miss the experience of seeing a child’s faces light up with a smile as they show off their Kohl’s bags loaded with clothing.

COVID-19 forces everyone to rethink the norm and adapt to the present. Summer Santa, an all-volunteer charity, stands together and strong for children. For information about Summer Santa: www.summersanta.org.
